A white canvas reminds me of a clean conscience, a clean slate, and a clean room. Once I heard a psychologist discuss the value of cleaning your room by explaining that your room is an externalisation of your mind. I feel this is most true when it comes to my artworks as they are an externalisation of my thoughts, feelings, hopes, fears, etc. For this reason, rather than paint a canvas, I decide to clean a canvas by washing it with soap and water.
